Idiot theater

I would like to ask whether you too sometimes felt like being within a funny movie while everyone else takes it very seriously.
Imagine that you are sitting at the breakfast table with a friend in a quite crowded nice cute bar. Everyone is talking with the table partners, and you are too. You are trying to tell your friend that he is an idiot, sometime. But you do not want to offend him, so you try to put it down nicely and softly. Unfortunately, being he sometimes an idiot, he does not understand what you mean.
So, you try to be a bit more direct. While citing self-explaining examples about his idiot behavior, the conversations on the neighboring tables diminish in both volume and amount. You check that you are not shouting, nor yelling, and you consider it a fortuite coincidence, while your friend repeats that he still did not understand what you meant. So you tried a third time, now whispering and referring exactly to the sentences he just pronounced few minutes earlier, when another friend was with us. By then, the public place is silent. Everyone is suddenly interested in the wall paper, her shoes and his watch, but not enough to say a word about it. And your table mate still looks at you and ask "but why are you talking about this? do you think I did not behave properly?".
At that point, everyone is starring at you, chuckling discretionally. So you say, "I meant you have behaved like a prize idiot", feeling as the character of a soap opera and thinking you made so many people happy today for few minutes.
And finally your friend realizes, "oh, it is so silent here" and concludes "we can talk about it later? I have to go.".
