Snow time

I would like to ask how many things can be seen only when snow is laying on the ground.
Today morning I could see I was the first one to leave my building. My footsteps left the first signs on the white steps.
I could also notice that the bus always stop in exactly the same place. The people taking the previous buses have jumped in exactly where I did.
The parents looks exhausted and exasperated while pulling the sledge with their kids, who complain about going too slow, or wanting to go up the hill once more.

Leuna

I would like to ask what are those lights appearing as a town almost suddenly from the nothing in the window of the night train. Everywhere is dark but you can then see a galaxy of bright yellow lights. The first thought goes to San Francisco, or New York City, where the lights define the shape and the form of the buildings, the color of which merges with the one of the dark sky. But then you get nearer, you pass an empty bleak station with no roof, but some grass even where it would not be expected to be. And you see a name: Leuna.

Christmas crowd shopping

[...i'm back...]

I would like to ask why there were so many people outside in the streets today. It was so full, one could barely walk without being pushed or hit by the others, or by one of their thousand bags they were carrying while also trying to get through the human mass floating and flooding around.
I am nowhere normally associated with a mass of people, like an Indian or Chinese metropole. I am in the downtown of a small city, but today is the third-but-last saturday before Christmas. As here on Sunday the shops are closed, this is basically one of the last three days in which everyone can go shopping, or better, Christmas shopping. No matter that everywhere lies snow and we are far below -10°C.

Seated break

I would like to ask what happens when you have finished all what you were supposed to do. When you sit down, on a rock in the park, on the chair in the kitchen drinking tea, or on the floor of an empty apartment. And you think, "men, I do not remember when it was the last time I was sitting like this". And the following thought is sometimes, "But what did I do all this time? Why could I not sit here?".

One step, one breath, one movement of brush

I would like to ask why sometimes things seem to be bigger than ourselves, then our forces and energies. Sometimes they are somewhere outside, sometimes they just occupi the whole living room and they look so huge to us: thoughts, things to be done, things to be tidied, situations to consider, email keeping going through our head.
Other times, we just start trying to do one piece at a time, one step at a time. As in "Momo" by Michael Ende, the long big road will never be cleaned if you consider it in its completeness, but it will be cleaned if you just focus on every step, "a step, a breath, a movement of the brush; a step, a breath, a movement of the brush"...
And so, at the end, when you sit down after having reached your little goal, you find out that the living room is empty, or tided, and that your mind is happier, and more satisfied of having considered all available possibilities.
And it seems, things just solve by themselves. Your effort was much tinier than expected. And you could even go on, one step, one breath...

Writing, moving, sleeping

I would like to ask whether it makes more sense, now, to write something here or just to go to bed. I wanted to try to write something every day, or every couple of days, but the fact that I am moving is taking me so much energy and effort and time and thinking, that I am not able, in these days, to also think about something to say and then write it.

Unaware boys

I would like to ask whether the boys on the tram today see the lady who was trying to reach the tram door at the station. She was too slow on her wheelchair, she touch the button for opening the sliding door too late. But the boys could have just press the one to get out, and she would have managed.
I don't think they saw her. They were probably not mean, just distracted. They were looking at the newest mobile phone one of them had, and playing a game. They completely forgot about the rest of the world.

Changes and complains

I would like to ask why people like to be always in the same situation, telling about it, complaining about it, and be careful that nothing changes.

Friday, November 16, 2012

Skills for everyone and own limits

I would like to ask why it is so difficult to accept that we are not good at doing something. I am sure that everyone has some qualities and skills, but I can also imagine that everyone is not able to do everything. Even if he wants to learn everything, he might just not be able to. It is maybe what most people call "untalented".

The fog

I would like to ask whether you know that smell, the one given by billions of tiny drops of water suspended in the cold air on the early morning or early evening. The same one that still has also a shadow of something else, maybe cut grass, fallen leaves, smog, train brakes, and almonds. The same one which makes your clothes feel wet without pouring water, which let you walk in a sensation of fluidity, as if air and water would have mixed forming no sparks but water bubbles. And so levitating while swim-walking one tries to find the known landscape outside the own apartment door, but everything is disappearing in this fluid: in the fog.

Moving boxes

I would like to ask what is the best strategy to pack your things if you are going to leave them to plow ocean waves for 8 weeks and you eventually hope to get them back in a not too moldy state. Actually, maybe the first question would be what are the things that fit in the bag you will carry with you, and which ones are all the other ones. No matter which criteria I applied for finding an answer, I always got something completely useless: either you think about all the stuff you could not have and you would still exist - and then you think, why do I have all this crap? and it does not really help. Or, you try to "save" your favorite clothes and the important documents and precious belonging, for then finding out they will never fit in your bag.

Panic moment

I would like to ask what do you do when you feel like you don't manage anymore, you can't do all what you had planned, you get confused and don't get straight your thoughts about your movements, and you think I will never manage, aaaaaaah.

Buying a house

I would like to ask what are the reasons which motivate someone to buy a house. Of course, I am considering someone who has the possibility to do it, either using some saved money or agreeing a mortgage.

Online university classes

I would like to ask what are the goals of online university classes. I have just helped a friend to prepare for the paper she has to submit this week. The topic regards the comparison between two different table which have to be prepared by the student using two different softwares. After we spent some time understanding how the table should look like and which data we can use, we realized that we only had one of the required softwares available and no idea of how to get the other for free. We checked the book, the website, the class description and nowhere was to be found a link or a hint of how to get the necessary software.

More-Than-More-Than-Moore

I would like to ask whether it is getting more common in scientific conferences about electronics and semiconductor not only to consider Moore's law, not only to say that we are in the More-Than-Moore time, but also to think whether it is rather a "Nothing-More" time.

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Walking at night

I would like to ask what I was thinking few years ago in the case I was walking back home at night. Was I worried and scared, or was I enjoying the night atmosphere? I remember both cases, but I can't think of when the one stopped and the being frightened got more frequent.
Since quite a long time I did not have the occasion of walking back home through the town when completely dark and late enough to be desert - in the last time, I was by car or by taxi or by tram.
Somehow, I forgot how it feels. The empty roads, the silent streets, round light spots on your way and square ones along the houses.

Monday, November 5, 2012

Café with packaged cakes

I would like to ask why more and more often there are public places which sells coffee and cakes, but the cakes are not freshly baked, but just taken out from the freezer and warmed up. Not only: you could buy the same cake at the supermarket - paying of course less than half the price.

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Bad mood and changes

I would like to ask whether it is rare, sometimes, that one has bad mood and does not know why. When it happens to me, first I think that I am tired and I need sleep. But if this is not the case, I just keep my bad mood and try not to bother others. Consequently, my bad mood get worse, because I can't really do anything about it but it is preventing me to enjoy the day or other's company.
When I have enough, I force myself to understand what it is causing it. This might make it even worse, because I can not understand why, and I hate not to have control on myself.

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Assumptions and discussions

I would like to ask why is it so difficult to discuss a plan or an idea instead of just assuming it good and accepted by everyone. Just imagine that it is dinner time and your mum or your partner tells you, "Today you have to eat noodle", or instead, "Today evening we will eat noodle because i have to finish the tomato sauce in the fridge and noodle is good for you and we don't eat it since a while". Which one is easier to accept, in particular if you don't like noodle so much and were already planning to get fish and chips at your favorite store?

Others' problems

I would like to ask whether there is a reason why some people are curious about what other people feels and think, and willing to listen to them and try to help them just by talking and discussing the problem, while other are not. These second ones prefer to focus on themselves, seeing only their own problems, which becomes incommensurably big and feel like they have never been experienced by anyone before them - just because they don't know, because they do not care about what other people live.

Film in foreign language

I would like to ask why should be wrong that the kids look a cartoon in a foreign language.
In Malaysia a young couple with two school girls invited me for dinner. After eating, we chatted while the girls were looking at a DVD - a fairy tale in English. I was impressed, because the father is Chinese, the mother Malay, and the girls perfectly trilingual. I thought that those kids will be the next generation in power.

Unprepared job interview

I would like to ask whether it is not obvious that you know what will be the conditions in your contract when you go to a job interview. Maybe not the tiniest details, but for instance if it is a short-term contract, or how much travel is involved, or the salary range.

Sunday, October 28, 2012

Not that young parents

I would like to ask what is the role of the kids towards their own parents when the kids are adults and the parents get old. Let speak about parents and kids who love each other, share opinions and events, and are there for the other when needed.

Girl in tights

I would like to ask the girl in the tram whether she just forgot her skirt or she intentionally goes around dressed like that. I don't wanna judge - well, actually, I am - but... why should an about 15-years-old quite normal pretty looking girl go around wearing a nice short blouse, black thick tights, and shoes, without any skirt or trousers?

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Idiot theater

I would like to ask whether you too sometimes felt like being within a funny movie while everyone else takes it very seriously.
Imagine that you are sitting at the breakfast table with a friend in a quite crowded nice cute bar. Everyone is talking with the table partners, and you are too. You are trying to tell your friend that he is an idiot, sometime. But you do not want to offend him, so you try to put it down nicely and softly. Unfortunately, being he sometimes an idiot, he does not understand what you mean.

Town smell and color

I would like to ask how do the color and the smell which characterize a town form, what constitutes them and how can be unique and recognizable for every single town. It might be true that all cities along the sea have a hint of fishy, marine smell in their own odor, but then to this a mixture of the background mountains, the local food, the air humidity, and thousand other insignificant factors is added, which all together form the unique essence of the town.

Ironing

I would like to ask why do clothes need to be ironed. Ok, not all of them. But let's take a nice cotton shirt or blouse. That is the typical example of something that if not ironed "looks bad". I would like to meet the person who invented all this and exchange a couple of words and get some explanation. I really do not understand why the shirt has to be ironed. Once it is clean, and it matches the pants, and it is decent, without holes or strange stuff, what is the problem?

Saturday, October 20, 2012

Non self-evident

I would like to ask why we have to get sick to understand how health is not a natural condition. Only then we realize how lucky we have been until then, or how important it is. I wonder why we can not appreciate what we have all the time, and not only when we do not have it anymore. Sometimes, we even challenge our bodies, or we look at danger with disregard.

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Fear

I would like to ask whether fear is a sign of elderly. Whether you have more fear when you get older, because you are more mature, you think about all what you could lose, all what could happen, all what happens already in the world, because you are aware of it. Whether you begin to think about yourself being finite, powerless, and not able to influence most events, just feeling like you are more flowing in a river with different currents and that you can only decide which one is the stronger one, but not which currents contribute to your motions. Whether you feel responsible for someone and for something, but you can give very few support.

Monday, October 15, 2012

Worrying

I would like to ask why sometimes people get worried before even it makes any sense. They get worried about what would happen if, but the "if" did not happen yet, nor is foreseen to happen, and, what's worse, they could not change anything in case the "if" would become true. It is just one of many occasions of our impotence in influencing many things. Therefore, it makes even less sense to just get worried: can you avoid it? do it; can you not avoid it? be prepared in the best way, but do not worry.
When people worry, they begin to kind of panic and lose any type of objectivity on the situation. It is like if someone would keep telling you "I can't swim, I can't swim, I will draw" sitting on a bench in a park along a little water hole, where nobody would ever think about taking a bath, nor the person speaking would ever think about taking one, but is getting worried about the fact that she will draw "if" she would take a bath.

Common sense volume

I would like to ask why some people believe that they need to listen to music to the highest volume to really be able to enjoy it. Does the volume really make such a difference? And what if the neighbors or flatmates do not want to listen to it?

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Pedestrian crossing

I would like to ask whether that father believes he is a great example for his son, after he yelled at us while crossing the street.

Friday, October 12, 2012

Music

I would like to ask what would be the world without music. It is something so ephemeral and impalpable, but still with the power of changing our way of feeling or let us be less alone. You can sing with it, you can just enjoy it laying lazy on the sofa, or you can use it as a background for a lot of activities. And there are so many different types, it can be so different, from the African traditional drums to electronic music, from Wiener Waltz to bands.

Thursday, October 11, 2012

Misunderstandings

I would like to ask why it is so easy to misunderstand others. We sometimes explain it with different background, different culture, maybe a different knowledge of the language is used. But most times, it is just the different personal meaning that everyone gives to the same word. Not even maybe the intrinsic meaning, that is, what the word actually mean. I think that the danger is more in what the word refers about, or in all the words which are missed that can completely change the meaning of a sentence, if added to it.

Vegetarian parents

I would like to ask that girl whether she knows what the word "vegetarian" means or whether she simply thinks it is a bad word with which her school friends distinguished her from themselves.
I was on the tram when five girls around 7 or 8 years old came in and stand in the middle of the wagon, where everyone could see and hear them. For a while they talked about school, then one of them suddenly indicated a butcher shop we were passing by. "That is the best one in town, my mum says". Another girl said "Yes, my mum says so too". And a third girl added "Mine as well". The fourth girl joined "My mum too". And the fifth girl echoed "My mum too". But then the other four girls turned to her and two of them said at the same time:
"No, yours not".
Silence.
"Why mine not?"
"Because your parents are vegetarian".
"So what?".
"They don't go to butchers".
Silence.

Silence in town

I would like to ask how would it be a town where you can not hear a noise. Everything would still work as usual - car crossing with powerful engines, door getting opened and closed, people walking around - but nothing would emit a sound. People would talk with signs and through videocalls.

Could you move the revolving door?

I would like to ask that guy how many times he already asked what he asked me this afternoon, and how many times he might have liked to ask but he did not.
It is the entrance of the supermarket and there is a standard revolving door at half height where you have to pass through in order to get into the food section. On one side the wheel for the people and just nearby the bar for the carts. But when I approach it, a guy in a wheelchair blocks my way and looks at me with a distorted face. He says something that I can not understand. Then he tries again slowly, then a third time with great effort, and I finally understand: could I please move the revolving door so that he can get out of the supermarket, as the aisles of the counters are too narrow for his wheelchair?

Traditional clothes

I would like to ask whether the people wearing a traditional dress in the Munich central train station are going to the Oktoberfest for working or for fun. After I noticed at least half of the people in the station wearing leather shorts with long wool socks or white blouses with colorful skirts, my friends told me that those people were most probably “real Germans from Bayern” (the most south region of Germany confining with Austria) who dress up in the traditional clothes for going to one of the most famous festivals of beer in Europe, if not in the world.

Saturday, October 6, 2012

Time for travelling?

I would like to ask what would you do if you could choose when to start your new job - on January 1st, or on April 1st - and your actual contract finishes on December 31st.

Friday, October 5, 2012

Helping when nothing changes

I would like to ask what is the best way to help someone. If he tells you, what is his problem, and you listen, and you try to give your opinion and suggest what he should do, and then, things are too complicate, nothing changes. The situation does not change, the people do not change, the life does not change.

Thursday, October 4, 2012

"I am right"

I would like to ask why some people do not understand how much they hurt others, only because they believe to know what is right and they do not listen what other people think, wish, believe. I am not talking about religion. I am talking about the behavior of people who believe to know that they are always perfect, and to know what is best for others. So that they just impose it to others, and get angry or disappointed when others do not want to do it and suggest unlistened alternatives. It is when dialogue does not exist and the complexity of life is misregarded. It is when people always know what is right, black or white, and do not see all the different tones of grey, if not the rainbow of colors which characterize life.

To appreciate and to like

I would like to ask what would you think if someone brings you a cake from his own tradition, with a very elegant decoration on top, a certificate of the genuinity of the recipe and of the ingredients, and an exquisitely decorated box.

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Doctors

I would like to ask why people are afraid of doctors. In the end, they just try to make us feel better or to solve a problem. Maybe, the idea of a doctor is associated with pain for some invasive analysis, or illness, or feeling bad, together with long waiting times in non optimal conditions. I think that most of the time we are afraid of the fact that they tell us to do something, or to take some medicaments, and we mostly have no idea of how these magic pills should let us feel better or the exercise should help our physical conditions. It basically then implies a blind trust in their knowledge, understanding and capability to offer the right solution to our problem. I can imagine that nobody likes to give such blind trust to, more or less, strangers.

Monday, October 1, 2012

Curtains

I would like to ask whether the use or not of curtains influences the social behaviors of the people living in that region. In the mediterranean countries, the windows of fancy furnished houses have double or triple protection from the sunlight: thin white curtains, thick darker curtains, and shutters or similar. In the continental Europe, in the northern part, it is difficult to find any shade of curtain, thin or thick, even in hotels. In Asia there I have seen ricepaper curtains, where you can see the shadow of the people behind them, but diffused.

Sunday, September 30, 2012

Reading in silence

I would like to ask why I am able to concentrate reading a book when there is complete silence, or as well when it is the complete loud chaos - but not in situations inbetween. I managed to isolate my self from the outside world in a constipated train where crying babies and discussing students were evaporating. I managed as well to ignore what was happening in the striking airport sitting on the floor or a busy waiting spot. Or, I was reading listening to the silence of the living room in a winter evening, when no cars drive on the iced road and no birds fly.

Saturday, September 29, 2012

Move approaching

I would like to ask why this time it is so hard to move. Since 10 year, I am moving within the same town, or the same country, or somewhere else more often than every two years. So, it is not that I am not used to it. I can't see what is different, this time.

Friday, September 28, 2012

Stinky passenger

I would like to ask what would I be supposed to do when the person sitting in my proximity on the tram stinks. It is one of those occasions in which I wish that my nose would not work as well as it does, although I admit that I am sorry for the people who can not sniff the freshly baken pizza of the neighbor or the different aromas in a chocolate almond cinnamon cake with a drop of rum. Anyway, today morning I was envy of the ones who do not smell anything.

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Deep point times

I would like to ask what are the things that on average most people would use to improve their mood or simply feel better. Of course, some people want to teach us truths like "life is a gift and you should be happy also just for that", or "Life is so short that you should not lose your time complaining and feeling bad", or again that "You can only find real happiness within yourself and when you are in peace with your consciousness, after you behaved properly". And so on. But for me, and also for most people I know, there are always moments in which I feel like I could never do anything right in my life and I never will, or I have just messed up on something important and feel terrible, or I simply do not know what I want, what to do, which decision to take.

Meeting new people

I would like to ask whether it does not seem strange that people have difficulties to meet new people in our time. I have talked in these days to two unrelated friends, both moved a couple of years ago to a new town in different countries because of work opportunities.

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Four people reading

I would like to ask what those four people on the tram were reading. They looked like an extract from a movie, wearing similar mantels, the two men also a cap in style, the women also a scarf in color with the jacket. All singularly, sitting on the single seats near the entrance of the tram, aware only of their books and maybe the actual tram stop behind the window near them.

Monday, September 24, 2012

Speak out!

I would like to ask why, in many occasions, people do not say clearly what they think. And, if it is about someone, they do not say it to that person.
There are some cultural causes. When no opinions about people are involved, it can be that we do not want to contradict our boss, or our parents, or our best friends. Or that we do not want to hurt them. Or to be impolite interrupting them. Or because you are younger and not allowed to talk, because elders are always right. Or because you are a woman and not allowed to talk, because woman can not have opinions. Or because you are not an expert, you don't know what happened. Or because.

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Stupid spoiled sadness

I would like to ask what is this stupid spoiled sadness that comes on the Sunday evening, thinking that tomorrow is Monday, that I have to put an alarm clock, stand up, go to work, meet people I do not want to see and discuss about things I do not care. I should at least appreciate I could put the alarm within a time window of 2 hours, but no, I force myself to go as early as possible, in order to be able to leave as early as possible.

Saturday, September 22, 2012

Home smell

I would like to ask where does that smell come from. The smell of the sweatshirt I took out clean from the cabinet, that one I did not wear in a while. Putting it on, a rare but familiar smell reached my nose. The washing powder that my mum uses, 800 km away and in another country.

Friday, September 21, 2012

Bells

I would like to ask why there are not so many bells in the American churches.
Few weekends ago it was the "monument day" and I lined up by chance for visiting the upper part of the town cathedral, which I discovered hosts one of the oldest and biggest swinging medioeval bells of the world.

Thursday, September 20, 2012

A different tram stop

I would like to ask whether people try sometimes to just take another way to go to an usual place. Let say that you go to work every day by car. Do you follow always the same path, or sometimes you change, just to have different views? Or, if you take the tram, do you take it always at the same stop or sometimes you walk to the next or previous one?

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Software use

I would like to ask how it came to this new type of workshops where people learn how to use a software without having any idea of what actually the software does. And this not because the participants do not have any background on the topic, the rules, or the theory behind the program, but rather because these classes are normally organized by experts employed by the software company itself. In this case, the interest of the workshop organizer is not to let people understand what they do, but how to do it with the software of the organizing company - possibly in such a way that it becomes extremely challenging doing it with eventual competitor's products.
Well, I do not agree.

Making ideas real

I would like to ask why some people (including myself) thinks about beginning a new hobby or activity, but then they get stuck in some thoughts of enormous difficulties about what it means to start something new, or just get disappointed after a first shy trial.
It does not have to be a new work activity, nor moving to another town, where I could share some apprehension and worry, as well as a deep pondering about pros and cons. I refer more to the little things that make our lives richer, happier, or simply more interesting: a new hobby, a new class, a new sport activity.

Monday, September 17, 2012

Chinese lady

I would like to ask how long does a tradition last in a folk. A way of behaving that has been characteristic of a population for millenniums and now can be found also in the people belonging to it but no more living in their country.

Sunday, September 16, 2012

Love for work

I would like to ask why I do not have his enthusiasm, his passion in what he is doing. I would be happy to have one tenth of it.

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Oh wonder!

I would like to ask whether they really learnt new traditions, food and ways of living after we said "Goodbye", as I did when I visited them. I had suggested these colleagues to go for a coffee and piece of cake in one of the oldest and tasty German pastry shops of town. It is a quite fancy old-fashion café, where classical music is played, they have 15 types of coffee and tea, and the cakes are on average about 10 cm tall and very beautifully decorated. I imagined they had never seen anything like that, although they traveled a lot; or at least, nobody ever went with them to the ritual of having coffee and cake as Germans do.

Friday, September 14, 2012

Organisation

I would like to ask why people have to decide spontaneously all the time what and when they are going to do something, and can not just plan it. Not that I really care what and when they do it: I care only when I am directly involved and I have to participate to the event.

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Disagreement on a movie

I would like to ask how is it possible that people get so upset for a movie. I just can not find any explanation or any logical flow of thoughts, why people should burn down an embassy as a reaction to a movie which contains a message or some sentences they do not agree with.

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Tattoo

I would like to ask whether you have ever seen an elder or middle-aged person with a tattoo. I realized today that I had never seen one until this morning. The lady was probably around 50 years old. Not fat, actually with a very skinny rectangular face, made more angular by the straight dark blond hair around it. Even her glasses were square. She was wearing a black gilet and a sleeveless white shirt, so that I could notice a blue flower on the upper part of her right arm.
When I think about a tattoo, I always imagine it on the muscles of a super tanned man, or on the lower part of a delicate woman's back. But never on the flabby arm of a pale middle-aged person.

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

The hot dog stand

How would like to ask how many and how different the customers of a hot dog stand during a normal day can be. I always associated a hot dog stand to very few occasions for having a meal: an employee during a quick lunch break, few tourists hungry near a station, or standing eaters during a volk fair.

Monday, September 10, 2012

Watching the news or not?

I would like to ask how many people watch the news in TV because they want to be informed, or because it is a habit, or even just they like to have a familiar noise while eating dinner at the kitchen table. How many people still watch the news in TV although they think that the best way to be informed is another one, as the news are incomplete or biased.

Books and e-Books

I would like to ask the readers of electronic books whether you miss the dusty heavy hardcover books in the living room near the sofa. Or the cheap light books with recycled paper that fitted everywhere in any bag and could be opened like bananas to read the words near the binding. And the feeling of the paper frame under the finger tips, so dry, so rough sometime. And also so dirty, sometime, making your fingers black if the book was printed on cheap not really ink-absorbing paper - but wonder, coffee and tea got absorbed so well as soon as one drop dropped on the most important sentence of the page.
I do see the advantages of an electronic book, whichever company you would like to consider.

Green pullover

I would like to ask how the colors that people were in normal days get decided. They must get decided somewhere, somehow, by someone, because the other morning, while waiting for the tram, I was observing the people and I could count many black pullovers, some brown ones, two red ones and two light blue ones, but no other color. Interesting enough, the two red ones were exactly the same red, which is not that easy to find. And the same can be said for the light blue ones. It seems that all people can choose the color of their clothes from a dozen of given ones, and any other color, for a while, disappears.

Sitting

I would like to ask how many people sometimes just sit on their favorite spot on a chair, sofa, bench, stone, and just... sit. No computer, book or knitting in their hands, no pets, no kids. You might hold in your hands just a cup of hot chocolate, or tea or coffee. That's it. Well, I also allow you to have a pillow if you are more confortable, or you need something to squeeze. And a cover, if you are cold. But that's it. Nothing else.

Facebook status

I would like to ask why we write in our status message of the social networks. It is so often subject of debate or warning articles on important newspapers, because it could be dangerous. I think it is quite obvious that we should not put there our bank account number. You can also go a bit further than that and admit that even locating yourself very far from your apartment is not incredibly safe if someone is just waiting for that to break in - there have been some cases for instance with Twitter users and their status messages, intercepted by thieves.
But why do people actually post anything might pass through their heads in a status message?

Working day

I would like to ask all those pedestrians walking around downtown, what do they do, why are they there in the mid morning hours of a working tuesday.
I always wondered why are shops open during standard working hours. If most people are working, they will not go shopping, so that there is no point to keep the shops open. Let's better say, it is less worth to keep the shops open when people usually work, than when they usually don't: late afternoons or weekends. But today I was going to the doctor, so I was around town when I am normally not. And I was astonished to see a lot of people walking around.

Sickness

I would like to ask people with a long work experience whether their colleagues ever called them when they have been sick. Does this depend on the work environment? Or does it depend on the type of job you do?
